Satay Inn (Hong Kong, CHINA) ★★★★☆

Two of my ex-bosses showed me the door to the wonderful world of Singaporean food and it hasn't stopped for me ever since! I could still recall that very first experience. It was a bowl of curry fish head and after a sip of the curry soup, I had sweats all over my head!

Unfortunately, there aren't that many good Singaporean restaurants in Hong Kong. For an authentic experience of Singaporean food, I highly recommend Satay Inn and Sabah.

It's no secret that Satay Inn is my favorite Singaporean restaurant here in the city. Located on the podium level of The Royal Pacific Hotel & Towers at the China Hong Kong City, an al fresco dining experience with tantalizing authentic Singaporean and Malaysian dishes is right here waiting for you (indoor seating also available).

I haven't been here for about a year now and I was more than impressed to see that they have gone paperless with an electronic menu. The food, drink and wine menus are all available at my fingertips.

Before we have any exotic food, time to freshen up a bit with a fresh coconut first.

Satay Inn has the best fried carrot cakes in the city and be warned, this is a very addictive dish!

As always, it has the perfect portion of rice flour, white radish, egg omelette, shrimp and chili. Powered by a sweet dark soy sauce, it has the perfect balance of sweet, savory and spicy flavors (8/10).

There are two
kway teows being served here at Satay Inn. First, there's an ipon kway teow, or rice noodles in hot prawn soup. Forget about that one.

The one you need to order (a must here) is the fried kway teow with fried fresh shrimp, fish cakes, chinese sausage, egg and bean sprounts. I can promise you this - this will be the best Singaporean kway teow you will find in Hong Kong. It's that good (8/10)!

After two spicy dishes, just a simple stir fried kale with salty fish and garlic to wrap things up (5/10).

Satay Inn has many other signature dishes including their chili Crab, chicken and pork satay. Check them out if you're looking for a true Singaporean/Malaysian dining experience.
